Tour of Italy: Umbria

This region is the heart of Italy, but it is also important for its important cuisine and an enological and gastronomical tradition that has no equals: our Tour of Italy has arrived in Umbria.

There are many prestigious wine companies in Umbria famous around the world, and some bottles have literally made Italian wine history.

An example? The Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 anni Caprai 2000. This is a widely prized bottle not only at the national level, but abroad as well. This important red wine, a 100% Sagrantino, presents balsamic cider notes, as well as berries and cherries. Furthermore, it has a strong acidity, which makes it perfect for red-meat menus.

Another excellent Umbrian wine is the Sacreterre Tili 1997: its honey and vanilla aroma bode perfectly with a velvety, warm, and dry taste. It is certainly a bottle that you do not want to miss, and that you should enjoy with rich meals, such as braised meat and beef stew.

The Sangiovese Mulin Estate Wines 2015 also comes from Umbria. It is a rich, deep, and persistent wine with a particular tradition and an original label that underlines its unique history.

To end on a sweet note, the Passito di Sagrantino di Montefalco Paolo Bea 2007 is not a typical raisin wine, but an enological product carefully studied, with a lovely aroma and a harmonious sweetness. It is suggested not only for those who love raisin wine, but for all those who appreciate pure examples of Italian excellence.
