For Christmas, play it safe: give the gift of a good wine (or a whole case)!

Foods and alcoholic drinks are among the most common (and appreciated) Christmas gifts, ranking among the top ten gifts for December 25.

According to ISTAT data published in December 2018 by the Italian National Consumers’ Union, in fact, the “Food (food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages)” category, at almost 20 percent, is among the most popular choices during the Christmas period.

This also confirms Italians’ tendency to focus both on the thought and on the quality. The traditional Christmas baskets full of delights such as nougat, sausage and, of course, at least one bottle of sparkling wine for the Christmas Eve toast are always found on the list of things to buy for relatives, friends or colleagues.

Therefore, the food & beverage sector is always an apt choice, since you can also ‘customize’ the gift based on the recipient’s tastes. In fact, it is enough to have a minimal knowledge of the preferences of the person who will receive the gift to be sure you will make the right choice.

After deciding whether to get white, red, rosé or sparkling wine, all that remains is to have fun choosing the bottle (or case!) to buy.

And if, beside quality, your goal is also originality, you can always select a wine based on the vintage. Is there a particular year that marks a connection between you and a friend? Enoteca Properzio can take you back all the way to the 1950s-60s!

But in addition to drinking well, it’s also essential to eat well! This is precisely why, especially for Christmas and New Year, we advise you to also choose the very best of the gastronomic sector: from pecorino to salami, without forgetting legumes, sauces and honeys, only the best products for a truly unforgettable buffet.
