How auctions work

Rare bottles, historic vintages, and unique lots from the cellar of Enoteca Properzio in Spello.

Enoteca Properzio’s auctions are held online and are time-limited. Each lot has a starting bid as well as a specific closing date and time; you may place bids until the auction closes, at which point the lot is awarded to the highest bidder. All lots originate from Enoteca Properzio’s own cellar and are its exclusive property, including even very old vintages, all carefully stored and ready for shipment. Each lot may consist of one or more bottles; the specific contents are detailed in the description.

How to participate

  1. Account and Wine Club

To participate in the auctions, you need an account on enotecaproperzio.com. By registering, you become a member of the Enoteca Properzio Wine Club. You must be of legal age to participate.

  2. Verification of the required level

Each auction specifies the minimum Wine Club tier required to participate: some are reserved for members at the Silver tier and above, while others are for members at the Gold tier and above. Before placing a bid, check the required tier on the auction page.

  3. Lot selection

Each lot's page displays photos, a description, the starting bid, the current bid, and the closing date and time.

  4. Offer

Each new bid must exceed the current bid by at least €1, which is the minimum increment. For example, if the current bid is €1,500, your bid must be €1,501 or higher.

  5. Auction progress

If your bid is outbid, you will receive an email notification and can submit a new, higher bid.

  6. Award and purchase

If you win the lot, you will receive an email with a link to complete your purchase via the website's checkout. Participants who did not win the lot will receive a notification informing them of the outcome.

Before being listed, every bottle is inspected (label, capsule, cork, and fill level), and any specific details are noted in the lot description.

Access levels

Participation is reserved for Wine Club members. Each auction specifies the minimum required membership level (Silver and above, or Gold and above), and bidding is permitted only for members who hold that level.
