The wine cellar of the month: Bruno Giacosa

With its finest wines, Bruno Giacosa is internationally renowned for its excellence and it is, therefore, the winery of the month selected ad hoc by Enoteca Properzio.

This winery set in Piedmont is particularly famous for its astonishing production of Barbaresco and Barolo, but also for its sparkling wine characterised by a certainly praiseworthy perlage. Such is the case, for instance, of the Spumante Extra Dry Bruno Giacosa, a very fresh and balanced wine that distinguishes itself for its delicate yellow colour and its notes of peach and red apple. The structure of the wine turns out as particularly enjoyable, perfect for a toast on any occasion.

Another exquisite wine is the Barolo Falletto Giacosa of 2016. This 100% Nebbiolo red wine immediately releases pleasant notes of blackberry and cherry, but the most attentive tasters will recognize liquorice and strawberry notes too. Firm tannins do not cover the fruity notes of blackberry and cherry. The perfect pairing is with the traditional dishes of the Piedmontese cuisine, especially a great Brasato.

Moreover, wine lovers cannot miss the chance to try the Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva Bruno Giacosa of 2014. Why? Because, beginning with its hypnotic garnet red colour, this red wine leaves nothing to chance and finds impeccable balance between flavours and aromas. The notes of rose and ripe fruit that meet spice flavours in an indissoluble way are an example of this, together with the full and velvety taste that follows with its firm and deep character. Again, the ideal mix is with main courses, among which, as already suggested, the typical Brasato of Piedmont.
