Tour of Italy: Veneto

The second stop on Enoteca Properzio’s Tour of Italy is Veneto, a region that has always been famous for its red wines. From Recioto to Amarone della Valpolicella, it is precisely in this region that some of the most refined bottles of wine find its origin.

If we were to use two words to describe the character of these wines, these would be, undoubtedly, refinement and determination. Refinement because the entire production follows a precise and rigorous standard, passed on from generation to generation and renovated with the most modern technologies. Determination because the wine-production industry in Veneto always strives to create wonderful products while respecting the environment.

Today’s selection includes some of the best italian wine bottles of the Veneto region, requested not only in Italy, but around the world, as well.

Discovering Veneto, the land of some of the world’s best wines

Amarone della Valpolicella, Classico Giovanni Allegrini, 1996: as you well know, this famous wine is among the most precious creations of the Made in Italy logo. With its intense red color, thanks to subtle notes of macerated fruit, this wine is immediately recognized for its rich taste, its stillness, and its fruity ending—almost caramelized. To enjoy a bottle of this Amarone (perfect to combine with cheese and red meat) means to taste a story made of energy and vitality.

Hatteso Amarone della Valpolicella, Garbole Reserve, 2011: we could not exclude this wine from our podium! A rich wine, as deep as it is harmonious, perfect to serve with red meat or with an aged cheese. To preserve its color, we suggest serving it at 18 degrees Celsius.

Mazzano Amarone della Valpolicella, Classico Masi, 2003: this is not only a wonderful wine; it is a sublime product, well-structured and velvety. Thanks to the blackberry and cherry fragrance, and to its peculiar maceration, it is rich and soft on the palate.

Recioto della Valpolicella, Classico Quintarelli, 2004: this bottle is definitely among the most sophisticated wines to taste at the end of a meal, perhaps with your dessert. Behind its ruby-red color hides an intense taste of wild blackberry and cherry. On the palate, this wine leaves traces of liquorish and sweet spices. It is a true meditation wine.

Bianco Secco Quintarelli, 2017: we wished to include a white wine on this wine chart because it perfectly reflects the philosophy of the best wines from Veneto. It is a complex work of art, characterized by spices, flowers, and aromatic herbs. Its finale clearly offers hints of honey and minerals.

Among the local excellencies, one can find a number of rich red wines, as well as raisin and sparkling wines, which are an absolute must. Such wines, like the land that produces them, are an example of taste and quality, the product of dedication and professionalism, inspiration and creativity, forever united in precious creations that acquire value with the passing of time.
