Hidden away, deep beneath the Rue de Savoye in Reims, lie five secret cellars. These are home to some great Cristal vintages, entrusted to the care of time in the cool, dark atmosphere which provides the perfect conditions for their ageing.
It is here where Cristal Vinothèque was born, the product of our Chef de Caves’ appetite for experimentation and for pushing the wine “that little bit further". Louis Roederer also wanted to offer a few dedicated wine lovers the chance to experience the magical relationship between an exceptional wine and time.
Today, Louis Roederer reveals this "other" Cristal, aged for around ten years sur lattes and another ten years sur bouchon. These few bottles now comprise the first vintage of the Cristal Vinothèque collection, the 1995.
Guests at a dinner recently held to celebrate Louis Roederer’s 241-year anniversary were treated to an exclusive preview of the Cristal Vinothèque, which will shortly be launched in a few countries.
